If you have been following this blog for a while you should recognize this scene from the much larger layout we have been constructing for the last many months. The sparse vegetation, rocky outbreaks and nearby mountains with background ranges in the distance depict this as south-western Arizona. The bridge is a driven pile structure, still typical where rains are few and far between. This is the favorite picture site for train buffs visiting the line, and you may want to locate such a spot on your own layout.
